Can I use another type of pasta besides the one mentioned in the recipe?

If you don't have penne, you can use whatever pasta you have on hand for this creamy chicken pasta. We recommend pasta that holds sauce well, like rigatoni, fusilli, or shell pasta.

Can I substitute chicken with another protein?

Accepted Answer

You can try seafood like shrimp, prawns, or scallops. Another delicious option would be andouille sausage.

Can I make this recipe dairy-free or vegan?

Accepted Answer

This recipe has not been recipe tested to be dairy free. In theory, you could use coconut milk, vegan parmesan, and vegan butter but we have not tested that version.

Question 4

How spicy is this recipe with the cajun seasoning? Can I adjust the spice level?

The cajun seasoning I purchased from Bulk Barn did not have heat (very mild). When buying your seasoning look for the words mild or hot on the label. If you want it spicy, you could add some cayenne pepper.

Question 5

Can I make this recipe ahead of time or freeze it for later?

Accepted Answer

You can freeze the sauce. I recommend letting the sauce cool completely before adding it to a Ziploc bag and storing it in the freezer. It could separate but it should still be good to eat.

Can I make this recipe in a slow cooker or instant pot instead of a skillet?
