Tips & Tricks

  • Use a meat thermometer. It’s hard to know when your chicken is completely cooked and a meat thermometer will solve that mystery in seconds. No need to cut open the chicken and lose those precious juices. You’ll want at least 165F.
  • Dry your chicken. Don’t skip drying off the chicken thighs with a paper towel to remove excess moisture before you work with them. This will ensure they will nice and crispy on the outside.
  • Don’t overcrowd your air fryer. Make sure to use a single layer for the chicken thighs. If you are doubling the recipe, you will need to work in batches.

FAQs about air fryer lemon chicken

Yes, you can use boneless, skinless chicken breasts. They won’t get as crispy, but they’ll still taste good and are a leaner option.

We love using Mrs. Dash lemon pepper seasoning. It has a yummy taste and it’s salt-free. Another great option is Lawry’s lemon pepper seasoning.

For this particular recipe, I used a Gourmia 8 quart digital air fryer. However, any air fryer should work fine. I also really like the Ninja Foodi.

You can if you like, but it’s not 100% necessary. Letting chicken rest for a few minutes ensures that you have a juicy, tender chicken. Plus, it gives it a chance to cool down a little bit after being in the hot air fryer.

Yes! If you have the time, do it! Marinating overnight or even for 30 minutes before cooking will only enhance the flavors.
