In addition to a delicious dinner for busy nights, these baked buffalo chicken sliders are an amazing party food that’s perfect for game day.

I love snack recipes that double as dinner.

My family has fallen in love with Hawaiian roll sliders, so I’m sure we’ll be cooking up a few more slider recipes in the future.

Buffalo Chicken Sliders Ingredients

  • Rotisserie chicken (4 cups cooked chicken)
  • Franks Red Hot Sauce
  • Ranch dressing
  • Swiss cheese
  • Kings Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
  • Melted utter
  • Dried dill
  • Garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper

Recipe Variations and Ingredient Substitutions

Remember, when substituting ingredients, it’s important to keep in mind how the substitution may affect the recipe. Be prepared for some trial and error, and don’t be afraid to experiment to find what works best for you!

Rotisserie chicken: To make this recipe quick and easy, I used a cooked rotisserie chicken from the grocery store. You could use any cooked shredded chicken breast or chicken thigh. Rotisserie chicken sliders are just easier.

Franks Original Red Hot Sauce: You can use any cayenne hot sauce. I personally feel that Franks’s hot sauce has the best flavor, and it’s what the recipe was tested with. I do not recommend their buffalo sauce variety, go with the original.

Swiss cheese: You can use Monterey jack, provolone, mozzarella, etc. Swiss gave it a delicious flavor and helped balance out the spiciness. You can add bits of blue cheese if you prefer as well.

Dried dill: I love ranch that is heavy on the dill, so I added it to the butter mixture. You can use Italian seasoning, dried parsley, or whatever you have on hand.

Tools you’ll need

You can use a baking sheet (I used a quarter sheet pan) to bake the rolls or a casserole dish (they will fit in a 13×9 pan).

FAQs about Buffalo Chicken Sliders

Shredding chicken means taking two forks and pulling the cooked meat into pieces. It’s easier to do this when it’s warm. Another option is to use a hand mixer to shred the cooked chicken too.

This recipe was tested using Franks Red Original Hot Sauce. If you prefer another cayenne based hot sauce (like Louisanna) you can try it). I do not recommend Franks Buffalo Wing Sauce, Valentina, or Sriracha for this recipe (not in the measurements I gave).

You could try a blue cheese dressing, but I don’t recommend changing it up too much. If you don’t have ranch dressing, you can make your own with yogurt and this recipe for ranch seasoning.

Yes, just cover the spicy buffalo chicken mixture with wrap or a lid and put it in the fridge.

25-30 minutes. You want the bread to be browned, the cheese to be melted, and the buffalo chicken filling to be warm.

Yes, you can use small dinner rolls for the buffalo chicken slider recipe if your store doesn’t carry the King’s Hawaiian brand.

What to Serve With Buffalo Chicken Sliders

Coleslaw: I made a dill pickle coleslaw, but a classic coleslaw recipe is just as tasty.

Raw veggies: An easy dinner calls for a simple side dish. Grab a veggie tray or chop up some carrot sticks, celery sticks, and bell peppers. Serve with ranch dip.

Potato Salad: This ranch potato salad would be a great pairing.

Macaroni Salad: Another classic side. Try this Hawaiian macaroni salad.

Sweet potato fries: Sweet potato fries complement the spicy flavors of buffalo chicken.

Potato Skins: Try these Buffalo Chicken Potato Skins for even more creamy and spicy flavor.

Baked beans: For a hearty and flavorful side dish, you can make a batch of baked beans. You can use canned baked beans or make your own from scratch.

Green salad: A simple green salad with mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and a balsamic vinaigrette is a light and refreshing side dish that can balance out the richness of the sliders.

Corn on the cob: If you’re looking for a summery side dish, grilled corn on the cob is a great option. Or you can make corn on the cob in the Instant Pot.

Pasta salads: If you’re hosting a potluck, try one of these cold chicken pasta salads.
